I was happy with the everything!! At first there was a hiccup and the game wouldn't load but after letting it sit on the title screen and load for a few minutes it finally booted up to new game menu. Thank you for the great deal!!!!

Disappointing RPG for those that enjoy immersing storylines.
I had high expectations for an RPG by Squaresoft from 1998. This era seemed to be their golden age when it came to RPGs. Unique gameplay, epic quests, immersing stories. I had been used to the Final Fantasy series, and others like Xenogears and Vagrant Story. Even other companies produced wonderful RPGs with great stories like Legend of Dragoon. This is what I was hoping for when I bought Saga Frontier. The premise seemed amazing, with 7 different characters, each with their own story. The trouble is, there's hardly any story! I played through as Blue first, and there's literally maybe one or two paragraphs of story driven dialogue the entire game!!! I was shocked! Emelia had a more engaging plot, but it was still very, very weak. Music and graphics wise, the game is pretty weak. The pre-rendered backgrounds were nothing special. It was confusing to locate the multiple exits on any given screen. Sometimes you had to luckily, blindly stumble upon the exit to figure out where you have to go. The gameplay is fun. Battling is basically everything in Saga Frontier, and it is at least fun to do. The game requires quite a bit of grinding, but I didn't find myself minding to do it. I did find myself wanting to beat the game as quickly as I could through 2 of the 7 scenarios, so it felt like I got my money's worth before moving on to a better game. If you can find this game for $10, it would be worth the buy just to experience it, but it certainly isn't worth much more than that.
The most unique RPG of all time.

Best RPG Ever
This game is my favorite RPG, and in my opinion the best out there. All of the sprites are hard painted, the combat system is unique and engaging, as is the entire game. In the beginning you can choose 1 of 7 characters to play. The other characters may or may not be available later on. There are a ton of characters that may join you, and most are up to you to find and persuade to join your party. My favorite bit is that the moves in combat are learned after practicing similar moves. For example, if you use slash (which a character that has equipped a slashing weapon will have) enough times, you may learn stab or something. If you have a character with two swords he may learn double slash, and after using it enough may then learn cross slash. There is no map of what leads to what (in the game anyway) and I think there is a bit of randomness to it also. I'm sure the net has all of the info detailed on a wiki somewhere, but that would ruin some of the experience in my opinion. As a note, Saga Frontier 2 is very similar but is less good. The game after it is Unlimited Saga... just forget it exists. Unlimited Saga is the worst game ever, and although it keeps the hand painted sprites and battle system from the other two, you should read reviews on it specifically before getting it. Saga Frontier however is worth every penny and a great game even when compared to current RPGs.
