|Get back to the origins of console gaming with the Sega Genesis 2 Black Console. Its sleek design and no-nonsense style make this model a good addition to any collection. This console offers you all of the technology Sega is known for in a small package, so it won't take up space in your entertainment setup. A Motorola 68000 CPU runs at a rate of 7.67 MHz. It handles both 8-bit and 16-bit programs with ease. This Genesis version, also known as the Sega Mega Drive 2, features a 16-bit graphics processor. That means graphics load quicker than on its 8-bit counterparts. With 64KB of available RAM, the system can access and process information at a faster rate. Sega has made ports a priority on this model. Two controller ports make it easy to attach your joysticks or standard gaming controllers. These controllers feature a directional pad and selected buttons. A traditional power adapter port accommodates the included power plug. The audio/video port provides a hookup for the special Sega adapter. It can be used with TVs that have audio/video (a/v) connectors. No matter which connection is used, the Mega Drive Genesis produces stereo quality sound. And the system requires no additional accessories to do so. The high-quality sound brings new life to old components and ensures every pop or whisper is clearly understood. Compatibility is important in the design of the original Sega Genesis 2 Black Console. Designers ensured the model would be a suitable part of the company's line of mega games. This version is compatible with the Sega CD system games as well as Genesis 1 ROM cartridge games. Cartridges perfectly fit into the provided slot. Plug in the Sega CD system to accommodate disk titles from that system. The Mega Drive Genesis is made for plug-and-play compatibility with the CD device. Sega Genesis model cables simplify every connection to the master system. It's also built to accommodate a range of popular accessories, such as skins and multiple controller adapters.|

i reccomend this system for its shooters and sonic cd.
the sega cd model 1 is the classic cd console. anyone who had a model 1 when it was released will tell you they prefer the big system with the motorized tray even though its considered less reliable than the model 2. these are getting hard to find now as a lot of the trays were pushed in by hand and broken causing many people to junk these. The sega cd has a big library of games but not a whole lot of good ones. they spent too much time on fmv-based games that looked grainy and the screen was way too small as a result almost nobody wants to play these games anymore. but there are some really good games on the sega cd like android assault and robo aleste, sonic cd, sol-feace, ect. if sega had made more shooters for this system and more games like sonic cd, this would have been fierce competition to the snes. oh well.
Like new except for one thing.
The refurbished system works very well and comes with everything to plug and play. It’s great if you want to introduce someone to simple gaming, or if you are into the great retro games from gaming a golden era. My only complaint is that the 3rd party controllers are quite cheap. The D pad fell off of one while playing. I may look to find some original genesis controllers later.

Sega Gensis model 1 console.
The Sega Genesis model 1 console. Well, growing up I was very much a Nintendo fan. Anything having to do with Sega sucked. Well, you were either on one side or the other. Although today Nintendo will always have the number one spot in my heart, The Sega Genesis is not a bad system at all. Being a video game collector, this is a system you cannot go without. I personally prefer the model 1 Sega Genesis becuase it's just more impressive looking to me, more 90's. Plus, you are able to hook up the Sega Master System Power Converter up to it, which is not something you can do with the later Genesis versions (2 & 3). Also, you have the option to hook with the Sega 32X (be prepared for a web of wires) and the Sega CD, versions 1 or 2). I personally think the version 1 Sega CD looks more impressive, though I guess that's just becuase it's bigger. Not just that though...it is a space saver...sure, the Sega CD 2 is smaller, but with the one it's stacked on top rather than next to it. Vertical is the way to go if you want to save space. Unfortunately the Sega CD version 2's are a little more expensive, and harder to come by. Well the Sega Genesis mocel 1 uses it's own wierd port for audio and video and is only mono sound if you use this alone. I would suggest using this for the video only, then get at headphone jack that splits into two audio plugs (red and white), plug it into the front of your system, and then both audio jacks on your TV. Now you have stereo! The original controller for this system was real big, only 3 buttons, but it looks cool (once again, I guess just becasue it's bigger). They did come out with a 6 button controller, I'm not sure if that was when version 2 Genesis came out or not... The games for Sega are great though. Mainly the Sonic series. I wish I could site more examples but I'm not too well schooled on thier library's. They do have many classic side scrollers though, from watching reviews on youtube. I'm not exaclty sure if Sega did what Nintendon't, or how big a deal blast processing was, (Sega's processor was faster than the SNES but that didn't seem to matter, Nintendo still ruled...in fact much of Nintendo's competition at the time had better specs, yet in the end Nintedo always won) but the Sega Genesis is a classic gaming console, it's be a shame not to just disregard this great console. Get one today (the 1, not the two or three...unless you don't want to add stuff onto it, then just get the 2 or 3).
old school system
Bought to play some of the old throwback games. Also have a Atari 2600. Simple games you don't spend hours setting up your game play and watching cut scenes and mini movies like on the new system games. You spend you time actually playing the game. Sure the graphics are not as good. But some of the games actually take more skill to play.

Great classic system to own. Very easy to use & play. Controls are very simple for most games. Game selection is great(Sonic the hedgehog, Altered beast, Golden Axe, etc.). System will last forever if you take care of it. You can get most of the games very cheap. Great family system.
