Good graphics
Compelling gameplay
Good value
Great Game, gets better the more you play it making you keep coming back
Pokemon Stadium 2 is a great game, excellent design and concept, however you will want to make sure you have a gameboy with some Pokemon progress before you get this game, it will give you a large edge up and make the game more enjoyable. The fact that you can not obtain Pokemon while in the game is upsetting but is made up for by the battles where you can choose your team from any you would like. The cartridge is very unique and is the only one on the Nintendo 64 system to be released with a multicolored cartridge. For collecters this game is a must weather you collect in boxes, sealed or loose, get Pokemon Stadium 2!
Pokemon Stadium 2, a Great Success!
My older children (in their 20's) had a great time reliving their younger years. The Pokemon Stadium 2 worked just as they remembered. Thank you.

One of the best multiplayer games on the n64
More variety and more balance as a multiplayer game than Mario party games on the N64. Recommended more as a multiplayer game than single player game. Plus the cartridge is really cool!

Stadium 2 is the shiniest part of the golden days of Pokemon gen-I/gen-II
Stadium 2 was the capstone of the Gen-I and Gen-II Pokemon games. Unfortunately, it's also the farthest down the pipe that you can get Pokemon you've caught on these games, after which they rewrote the software and all our little digital friends were collectively trapped in the cage of time. That is the melancholy at the foot of the monolith here; this game stands as a monument to the birth of the pokemon meta-verse. It is the golden spire that proclaims the greatness that pokemon had achieved and the festivities lie within. I suppose you have to have an understanding of the goings-on in the pokemon franchise around the time it came out to appreciate what I'm saying. Anyway, back to a more substantive review; Even without the transfer pack and access to the old gameboy-based games Stadium 2 is fun in its own right. Any pokemon fan will appreciate one of these in their collection with or without "the gear", even the uninitiated will enjoy the minigames section of the game (I've personally spent a shameful number of hours there myself.) Beyond that there's an entire library, no joke, a research center built into the game where you can take a short series of classes, quizzes and practical exams in order to learn what to do with the strange creature that comes out of the ball. You could get this game, knowing nothing about pokemon (if you have a clue how a '64 works), and learn everything you need (more or less) to function in any of the pokemon games out there. And for the fully up-to-speed trainers (that's code for players in the pokemon universe) there's plenty to be done. The place (the game is based in "white city") is bursting with challenges that pit pokeball against pokeball. Even those of you waiting for black2 and white2, the best out there, will still find challenges in stadium 2 that will lick you at least once. Not many can claim that they've picked up a baton pass farfetche'd to go with their surfing pikachu! These and other goodies are squeezed in all over the place. All that said, when you have the full setup, that is, you've "got all the gear" stadium 2 becomes an indispensable linchpin for handling, playing, trading, data housekeeping, and just flat out enjoying your pokemon games. The tools they put into it make it flat out useful. There's no better way to show off your hardcore old-school team from your blue version then to load them up onto stadium 2 for a few rounds of ass kicking. I suppose nowadays it's mostly a collectors item unless you're deeper into pokemon than is healthy, or going on a trip down memory lane like I decided to do. So, considering its age, and the stiff competition it faces from systems like the Xbox, one would have to be pretty driven to haul out the 'ol N64 and play a round at any given time. Even so, it's like one of those old tried-n-true board games. Sure there's more flashy ways to have some fun, but it's just that: fun. You play it, you have a blast no matter what you're doing, you don't even need to have a clue what's going on and you can still enjoy. It's a world where flat patterns that look vaguely like creatures can be brought to a much fuller life-- that alone is something worth hours of entertainment. Above All it's very E-rated, so it's very family time safe. I cant honestly tell you that pets fighting with superpowers is violent when Gears of war is just a short bit of cable switching away. Im running out of room here, so I'll say the only thing I need to; It's a good game.
