Test your flying skills across eight progressively difficult lessons in Pilotwings for Super NES. In addition to soaring through the skies in a light plane, hang glider, and helicopter, you'll need to master skydiving and even the use of a rocket belt. Monitor your altitude, adjust your angle and approach, and keep your eyes on a speedometer and/or fuel bar to successfully complete challenges. Objectives generally involve scoring a specific number of points while landing within a designated target area. Time, accuracy, angle, and speed are just a few of the categories you'll be scored on, and there's also the added challenge of navigating through inclement weather in some scenarios. Various instructors offer guidance during lessons, and your progress can be resumed after entering in a password provided at the end of each exercise. | |

Good graphics
Compelling gameplay
Good value
Classic Flight SIM that is very addicting!!!
Pilotwings was introduced to the world in 1991. Being one of the Super Nintendo's launch game, it was developed to show of the Super Nintendo's new MODE 7 graphics. Take part in a real-life interactive environment from a host of aerial crafts: Hang glider, Bi-Plane, Rocket Pack, and skydiving. There is also special levels such as a combat helicopter scenario, as well as bonus stunts. The graphics displayed on Pilotwings were state-of-the-art for its time period and the one of the first games to give you a sense of realism in a flight sim, as you get a complete range of movement in all environments. If you have played this game before you will agree that the first time you played it, you were hooked and strived to make 100% on all levels and land on those moving platforms for the bonus's. Being able to be fully involved in a game is what all producers want everyone to feel while they play there games, and this one did just that, a total game package!
Fly plane fllly... I said fly.. FLY NOT CRASH DX
I was watching a review of SNES games awhile back and saw this on the countdown and thought it looked interesting. Never had seen it before so I decided to pick it up. It's mostly a flight simulator, in which you fly planes, control as you're in a parachute, or control yourself while in jet packs (if there is any more I haven't gotten that far). It's challenging, but not ridiculously hard. Everything is possible, and some people will think its pathetically easy while some people will have a hard time (like I did at first xD) But it is fun, the controls are good, it's all very doable. For the time, the graphics were not that bad, everything is distinguishable, so you aren't looking at like a big glob of indistinguishable pixels and calling it a plane. A lot of people are kinda like X_X when staring at old graphics nowadays but, this isn't bad. It's really fun, and if you're into flight simulators you'll probably love this :) Or you just want one of those games that are fun but really require no super high level of mental capacity to play, this fits the bill too (you know, like when you're zoned out and just want something fun XD).
Good Gravy its Good.
PilotWings is pretty much an SNES essential game for anyone looking to expand their libraries with great games. As the name sort of states, it is a pilot simulator and an excellent one at that, with what the limitations of the console would otherwise reduce the game to all of todays horrible simulators (like Farm Simulator 2015). You'd think a flight simulator for the Snes, mainly known for its 2D side scrolling titles, would be bad or have weird controls. Not this game! It utlizes 2D graphics and presents it to you in a way that the world looks like it's 3D! And the controls are easy to learn and easy to control (go figure!). The game starts you off learning how to pilot a Bi-plane and learning the basics of parachuting. Here you learn the basics of how to maneuver an airplane through these green and sometimes blue rings formed by 3D spheres (only actual 3D object in the game.) and landing safely. With the Parachuting, you are carried to high altitudes where you must drop, go through rings and land on the specified target. Doing these activities [Correctly and skillfully] earns you points. You use the points to score certifications, which completes the level, and sends you on to the next level. Each activity will have a certain exclusive way to that activity to earn points. Such as parachuting, you'll get more points for how accurately you land on the target, as with the Bi-Plane you'll get more points for gently angling the plane and safely landing it. You'll do more activites such as hangliding and Jet-packing as the game progresses, and each level will get harder with more scrutinizing instructors (each level has a new one). The will tolerate less and less from level to level, making sure that you hone your skills in each activity. TL;DR The game is great. It was a release title and has gameplay and graphics similar to Star Fox.
Pilotwings - SNES
First off, for anyone who might not know, Pilotwings is a flight simulator of sorts, where you get to fly a light plane, rocket belt(jet pack), hanglider, skydiving, and even some military helicopter missions. You're basically a flight student and you need to acquire certification by doing a series of lessons. Just try to not screw up too much, the instructors are very rude! For the price, why would you not buy this game? It can be found for very cheap and is a lot of fun. Sure it's not the BEST game out there but it is a lot of good fun, although it can be frustrating at first. The graphics are pretty amazing for the time I guess, putting Mode 7 to good use. It's not a very fast-paced game, very family-friendly. Bottom line is, if you want a fun game for cheap, get this game!!
“MicroSoft’s Flight Simulator But In The Style Of Nintendo?!” 👏👍
After re-discovering/re-playing PilotWings on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, I have also re-discovered/re-played PilotWings on the Nintendo 64 (as PilotWings 64) and the Nintendo 3DS (as PilotWings Resort; the game uses graphics based on Wii series games like Wii Sports, etc..)!! In addition, I have also re-discovered/re-played some similar and/or different games on other gaming platforms. 👏👍
