A great console, with some really fantastic games, the Wii comes with a guarantee of quality family entertainment. This is something I would feel comfortable buying for my kids. The console is incredibly user friendly and has a sleek look. You would think the Wii's playing style would be difficult to adjust to, but it really isn't at all, and kinks in the technology are minimal to nonexistent. I have only two problems with this console: 1) I have to re-purchase all of my old Nintendo 64 games. It's not as backwards-compatible as I had hoped, only capable of playing GameCube and Wii games unless the 64 games are purchased and downloaded from online. 2) Wii-motes are insanely expensive. Even now, well past this console's debut, purchasing a new Wii-mote that matches the console is about $40.00. Don't get one of these online if it doesn't come with them. It's really not worth it. That's what I did, and now if I purchase a Nintendo Wii-mote new from the store it will make my used Wii becoming functional cost just as much as purchasing a new one would have. If you end up making my mistake, pick up some off-brand Wii-motes. They're relatively cheap, and there are pink ones! I know, it's all very exciting. I recommend digging deep to find the games for this console that are worth purchasing. Nintendo really has produced some classics, but lately many of the games coming out for Wii are film-themed and in my opinion not worth keeping in your library past the first play-through. Definitely get the Zelda Collector's Edition pack for GameCube with Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask on it, give Animal Crossing City Folk a chance if you were a fan of the GC version, and invest in all the Mario games. Twilight Princess I hear is the bomb. Also, the Just Dance game has been the favorite of every nine-year-old I've met since last Christmas. I am a college student, incredibly low on cash, and I still found this purchase worth it. I originally decided to buy one because my adorable basset hound broke my GameCube and left me unable to maintain the Animal Crossing town I've been keeping up for five years. Now I play it every day. Because I have the new Animal Crossing. Either way, obviously enough, I'm not that much of a "hardcore gamer," and I think Nintendo products were made partially for your typical game-crazy nerds and also for people like me who don't have the motor skills for that sort of thing.
May not be for everyone, but still a great system from Nintendo
My alliances to video game companies have changed over the years. I was die-hard Nintendo during the NES years. I defected to Sega when I bought my Genesis and swore allegiance to Sony when I got a PS1 over the Saturn. I stuck with Sony until the 360 came out, and was all about Microsoft. I do end up getting every system, but have my preferred ones of each generation. The thing is, since the NES, Nintendo has always ranked to lowest to me. I usually get their systems last and Nintendo libraries have the lowest number of titles. I guess as I grew up, I preferred more mature games and Nintendo has always been more family and kid friendly than their competitors. When the Wii was introduced, I derided it as a gimmicky system that, for a player like me, was more of a novelty. As I saw the popularity grow for the Wii, I became even more frustrated. Many of the titles were consider “shovel ware”, the hardware was pretty much an upgraded GameCube, and people who used to belittle people like me for playing video games were suddenly calling themselves gamers. When I did purchase a Wii, even though it didn’t really prove my opinions of it to be completely without merit, I was able to see past them and see that the Wii did have something to offer to me, a hardened video game veteran. Compared to its competition, the Wii is lacking in raw power. This would explain why many games on the 360 or PS3 weren’t offered for the Wii or had to be watered down for the hardware to handle it. Luckily Nintendo knows how to make fun to play games without the need for cutting edge hardware. On the flip side, Nintendo has a checkered history with 3rd party developers. The games that sell are usually Nintendo produced titles and not ones from other publishers. The Wii will not disappoint a true Nintendo fan or casual gamer, but many hardcore gamers may see it as more of a toy than game system. I maybe hardcore, but I also enjoy many types of games and still love playing my older systems, so I still can find games on the Wii that I will enjoy. The Wii Remote is what initially separated it from the offerings of Sony and Microsoft. Though eventually, they would come out with their own versions of motion control, which essentially took that advantage away. One thing about Nintendo is that many innovations, especially with game controllers, were pioneered by them. Others will adopt and improve on them, but Nintendo is the one who done it first. As a gamer that tends to play for hours on end, the motion controls make this almost impossible without causing injury or strain without regular breaks. Even playing a motion game for 30 mins can wear out most people. Some games offer options to use more traditional controllers, which helps. Some of the more game play intensive games do limit the use of motion controls to specific parts, so you aren’t flailing around all the time. The controls are pretty precise and easy to use. The Wii managed to win me over despite my prejudices. It may not be a true “hard core” gaming machine, but it really wasn’t designed for that. It catered to the casual and newer gamers and not so much to us grizzled veterans of many console wars. It may not be my most played system I own or have the biggest library, but the Wii will always have a spot in my collection.
Great Deal
Great price on this bundle. The only drawbacks were that there was no instructions on how to set up the controllers and the sensor bar, and the games, being previously owned, were licensed in a foreign country with no way to change the previous owner's names and no access to the Internet channels due to license expiration. But all in all still a good price!

A great video game system at a reasonable price on the used market.
I bought a Wii the day they hit store shelves in North America. There are a lot of very fun games including Super Mario Kart and Smash Brothers. It has a very gimmicky control system, and the motion control system isn't the easiest way to control a game. I like it though because a lot of the games and friendly for new and non gamers a like. My girlfriend and I can play the Wii, and we can have a good time. Is this the kind of system that can demolish the new Xbox9000 or the PS578? No. But it also doesn't record your living room or force you to play games about murder and rape either. (Stink eye on you GTAV) If you don't own one. Buy one. They come cheap now and there is plenty to do with it. You won't be disappointed for sure.
Great price for a good system; might need a bit of extra time, though
The Wii works great, perhaps even better than our previous one. Only complaint is that I had to reset the product key myself because the seller didn't have it. It's not their fault, but I thought I should let people know that it isn't necessarily a "arrive at your door, play it tens seconds later" deal. (But for the low price, it was well worth the extra ten minutes of searching around.) To those of you who were given a locked Wii, just follow these instructions: 1) Go to the Nintendo website. 2) Navigate to the Support sub-site. 3) Navigate to the Wii section. 4) Search "pin code" or similar. 5) Select the article entitled "Forgot Parental Controls PIN". 6) Follow the instructions in the article. I hope this helps anyone who was in the same position as me! Again, other than it being locked, this Wii has worked beautifully. (And it even came with an awesome selection of Miis!) :P
