In Super Mario Bros., Princess Toadstool of the Mushroom Kingdom has been kidnapped by Bowser, the evil king of the Koopas. Former plumbers Mario and Luigi have been sent to rescue to her and restore peace to the kingdom. They must make their way over land, under ground, and through the sea, in eight worlds divided into four levels each. On their journey, they face a variety of enemies, including Goombas, Koopa Troopas, and Bullet Bills, which can be defeated by jumping directly on them. At the end of each world, the brothers come face to face with Bowser, who must be stopped before the quest can continue. Power-ups play an integral part in Super Mario Bros. When Mario jumps and hits a question mark block from underneath, an item is revealed. This could be a coin, mushroom, fire flower, or star. The mushroom is the game's most important item -- it makes Mario grow to over twice his normal size and strength, giving him the ability to break bricks with his jump-punch. It also allows him to be hit once without losing a life. Once Mario is in this "super" state, he can collect a fire flower that lets him shoot fireballs. Stars provide temporary invincibility, and 100 coins earn you an extra life. |

The game has great features about Mario, Luigi, the princess, and toad. The game itself can be very hard to play especially world 8. The castles are almost like realistic in detail. The good thing about it is the levels.

Umm the original SMB, need I say more?
Great game. This game knocked my socks off when it first came out. It holds a special place in my heart, which is why I just HAD to buy a brand new, unopened, graded copy of this game. Oh and the instruction manual for the game is excellent. I know by today's standards, the graphics etc are super simple but the game itself is awesome. It's not too difficult, with lots of secrets hidden throughout the game. If you've never played the game, you owe it to yourself to do so.

Super Mario Bros / A classic !
Who doesn't know Mario ? This games is the foundation of the Mario franchise. After a short appearance in the Donkey Kong games, Mario got his own game. Together with his brother Luigi, he has to save the Princess from the evil Bowser. The game is a scrolling platform game and contains 8 worlds and each world has 4 levels. You get to deal with several enemies such as goombas an koopa. You can either stomp them or kill them with a fireball. At the end of every world you have to fight "King Koopa" (who, until the final level, is actually a lesser enemy disguised as King Koopa). At the end of each world save the last, Mario is greeted with the words, "Thank you Mario! But our princess is in another castle!" Do I hate those words !!! Overall a very good game. I gave it a 4 because it's successor Super Mario Bros 3 has raised the standard for NES games in means of graphics. And Super Mario Bros hasn't got the great graphics of Super Mario Bros 3. But they both have great gameplay ! Still a must have in any NES collection or just for a drive down memory lane.

awesome game for the NES ... I used to play a lot of this game back in the years, so much fun. the only thing it didn't come with the original box and manual as I read in the description that it says very good " but its fine anyway . thank you !!!

Great game, works smoothly.
Took me a while to boot it up but is still easy to fix. Worked great on my NES, and I just loved how it brought up some of my childhood memories.
