For the price I paid I'm pretty satisfied in all honesty.
I was really in the mood to get one of these bad boys just for the nostalgia since I haven't had one in over a decade, and the pearl blue one I purchased did not dissapoint, the quality was top notch and felt brand new, and it even came with a charger that works like a charm. It runs games well and has no problems keeping me entertained. I highly recommend a gameboy advance SP to anyone especially those who have never had one. theres two different models the AGS-001 with front lit screen and AGS-101 with backlit screen I have the front lit screen but I'm still okay with it because its less strain on my eyes and bit cheaper, so at the end of the day it all comes to down to which model you'd prefer: the expensive backlit AGS-101 version or the slightly more affordable AGS-001 front lit version.

Great product
Super nice appearance and very bright backlight. Really love it! the only problems/warnings I'd give are: 1) the vendor wasn't able to give me the Mint color because apparently the manufacturer doesn't make that shell anymore, which was a bummer because I really liked that color. Didn't get told this until after purchasing. The description and title should be updated to reflect the fact that mint isn't available. Pearl blue is nice as well though, so not a big deal. 2) the battery seems to suffer as a result of the brighter screen, especially when it's set to a higher brightness. sometimes the power light flickers red intermittently, before going back to green, which doesn't seem good? 3) the backlight is so bright that it's really an eyestrain to try and play in the dark (which is obviously to be expected because this is the brighter model) overall 5/5 I'm really happy with the console, people are really blown away by the backlight and you can see it easily in broad daylight outside.

Solid refurb!
Has performed great so far. Battery life seems to be a bit short, but can't complain too much as it's easily recharged. Screen looks excellent, but has a touch a motion blur as do all AGS-101 screens. Speaker can also be a bit underwhelming in terms of volume, and haven't tested headphones yet as that needs an adapter to use.

Best way to play GameBoy games
I bought this so I could play my GameBoy games on a backlit screen, so I like the custom shell. Obviously with the custom shell, this is not for collectors, but for people just looking for a working GameBoy, it is a nice way to get a cool-looking GameBoy and avoid paying what a collector would for a similar quality system. I’ve played it a bit and it works well and the backlight works well, plus it has a rechargeable battery unlike the GameBoy Color I was using before.

Great if you don't mind some motion blur
I think most people would love the Game Boy Advanced SP AGS-101 with a brighter backlit screen. The first models of Game Boy Advanced SP, the "AGS-001" models have a frontlit screen and are a bit dimmer. While the brighter screen looks great, I am OCD enough that the new screen bothered me, and I would prefer the older frontlit model instead. The issue I have is that the Gameboy SP AGS-101 with brighter screen is that it has trouble with displaying black colors. Anytime there is black on the screen and there is motion (which is a lot), the blacks will smear together and the screen/motion looks very blurry. Probably most people don't care. But I have played so many hours on the original GBA SP that I couldn't get used to having the motion be so blurry. If you play the two types of GBA SPs side by side you will definitely notice a difference. I rated the product pretty high anyway because I think most folks would like it. But for me it was not good. It's a shame they don't offer a GBA SP that has the best of both worlds: a brighter screen but also no blurriness.
