Really Nice System Just A Couple Of Down Falls To It
I bought this game system for my nephew when his Nintendo DS stopped working thinking it would be better and I think this game system is really pretty much is like the Nintendo Ds it as the same qualities the two screens which are nice, and brite and can be view very well even though there note that big, you can use the the plastic pen that comes with it to touch the screen, has the normal buttons it also has a slot on the bottom to put the plastic pen in so when you not using it you know where it is, and you don't loose it which I thing is a very nice feature for the kids. The battery life is also great just like on the Nintendo Ds. One thing that this has better than the Nintendo Ds is it is more compact but that is really the only thing but that is also a downfall because to me that makes it more delicate, and this system has one more downfall, and that is it can only play Gameboy Advance Games, and DS Lite Games, and on the Nintendo DS you could play all of the previous games from all the systems but you can't with the Nintendo DS Lite. So, because of that I can only give this game system a 4 out of 5.
Fun to play but with a few flaws.
This is a great game system. With the Nintendo DS Lite, a stylus is used on most of the game play making it for a unique, fun experience. So far, all the games I've purchased for it have been easy to use. The only problem that I have come across is that some of the pixels don't have color on the screen making it appear as if you have a "dot" or something in the screen...ie..lint or dust spot. The other problem I have run into is the stylus not being completely smoothe and therefore making it feel a little scratchy on the screen. I easily exchanged my Nintendo DS for one w/out a pixel problem and was good to go after that. It's a fun game system and the sound quality is great, too. I have the black one and I'm not sure what type of material is used for the casing, but it's that kind of platic material that picks up every single fingerprint, kind of annoying in my opinion but I'm sure not bothersome to most. As will all game systems, the accessories are pretty pricey. Once you buy one thing, you're going to want another, so get the pocket book ready. YourPerfectFit
Still an Amazing System!
If you do not have a DS or DS Lite, the DSi would be a great update for any gamer. Just like the Lite, The DSi compact and features an awesome and enjoyable touch screen! Unfortunately (for some), the DSi does not have the GBA slot like the Lite does. Some may not mind, but others will find it aggravating that their GBA games cannot be used in this system anymore. But, you are still able to play those games, as long as they are bought through the Nintendo Shop just like on the Wii. Another thing about the DSi is that the battery life is not as lengthy as the Lite. It does NOT have poor battery life, just quite a bit shorter than the Lite. Exploring the internet on this system is also handy as long as you are in a place with free wifi.
Nintendo DS Lite - Onyx
I've had my DS Lite for about a month now, and I've been pretty happy with it overall. The battery seems to live forever, no matter how much I play. I have the Browser card and WiFi USB adapter, and the online webpages open fairly quickly and are crystal clear. I can go anywhere in the house and not lose signal. The only complaint is that you CAN view photos, but not video. After spending so much on accessories to get it online, I don't think I'd be willing to buy yet another accesory just to view videos on it. So, for gaming, it's great...you can play DS games, or spend a little less and buy Gameboy Advance games and play those on the Lite. The battery lasts longer than any other gaming system I've ever used. The screens are bright and the stereo speakers are crystal. Overall, I'd say the DS Lite is a great value. For those who say it breaks too easily, they must be careless in their use of it, because mine is holding up just fine. My advice...if you are buying for a child, buy the original DS system. That one is a bit thicker and can hold up to more abuse.
If you want a fun portable system for young and young at heart, grab one!
A great system to find second-hand on ebay, especially now that most will be selling their originals so they can get the new 3DS (which is really impressive, but a bit too $$ for me at this time). Nintento continues to master the market of fun family and platform games with some action and RPG thrown in. It doesn't compete with Playstation when it comes to more complicated "adult" games for hardcore gamers and movie capabilities, but those who know and love nintendo won't complain. Like the Wii and its motion controller, there's lots of fun simple games that utilize the special feature of dual screens with a touch sensitive bottom one. For example Cooking Mama will have you killing hours of downtime with slicing, chopping and stirring. I reccomend getting a browser cartridge for internet surfing and If you're tech savy a R4 card and a micro sd card so you can store and play the ROMs of any and every game on one cartridge.
