Released in time to celebrate the platform-jumping hero's 15th year in video games, Mega Man Anniversary Collection offers emulations of ten complete Mega Man titles on a single disc. Included are the first eight games in the series, from the NES' original Mega Man through the first "Anniversary" release, 1997's Mega Man 8 for PlayStation and Saturn. This 2004 collection also includes ports of two Mega Man arcade games never before released in North America. In addition to the comprehensive collection of the Blue Bomber's early career, the 15th Anniversary Collection contains original Mega Man artwork and an interview with the series' producer. Capcom's Mega Man Anniversary Collection lands on store shelves just before a companion compilation for Game Boy Advance. | |

Good graphics
Compelling gameplay
Good value
A Great Balue With a Few Issues.
This item is great if you do not want to fork over all the money to buy the original mega man titles. I purchased this for $18.00 instead of paying hundreds for the older nes versions. The good side of this game is they allow you to save after beating bosses in any title. This was not provided in the originals. Some would complain stating the save feature makes the game easier. However, I would say it is a must if you do not have a large amount of time to go through each level in one sitting. I also believe the save feature was not provided in the earlier versions because the technology was not advanced enough to provide the game save. This is what we have on all of our games today and should be there. I do have three problems with this game and all of them have to do with controls. First, I do not like how the a button is fire and the b button is the jump action. It is confusing and takes a while to get used to. Even after getting used to it, I still stumble with the controls in times when stressed out or going through a challenging part of the game. I do not like Y button which allows mega man to rapid fire. This is actually a good thing that I guiltily admit I do use at challenging points. However, it should not be there since it makes the game easier. I also do not like that the Z button pauses the game instead of the start button. I do not understand why the controls were chosen the way they were. However, purchasing this item is cost effective. It takes a while to get over the controls and enjoy the game. If you are a mega man, this game is totally worth the price.

Mega Man Anniversary ROCKS!
This disc makes a pretty convincing argument for retiring our old Nintendo systems. Every Mega Man title ever released in the states is here on one disc. Additionally, there are two bonus games that you can unlock, as well as an interview, production art, and commercials. What I found rather cool is that Mega Man 1 thru 6 have had their control scheme redone so as to incorporate functions used in later games, such as switching abilities with the L and R buttons. We've also been spared of the chore of writing down save codes. Every game on the disc, including the first game, have game save options. Awesome! The only blight is that Mega Man And Bass isn't part of this collection. It's probably the only factor preventing this collection from being considered "complete". Fortunately, the game can be played on Gameboy Advance or on Gamecube, via the Gameboy Player. Definitely buy!
Worth buying
I didn't catch Mega Man the first time around, so I don't know how accurate of a port it is. This game brings back all the memories of the Nintendo era. Great platforming action with amazing level design makes this compilation worth owning. If you haven't played these games before, they are significantly different than Mario-style platformers. However, it is much more fulfilling to defeat a Mega Man level than to get the infamous "the princess is in another castle" runaround. In my humble opinion, (ratings are out of 5) Difficulty: 3-5 ... Some parts are easy, some parts are extremely tricky. Graphics: 2 by today's standards, superb for 8-bit era. Sound: 4 ... Very appropriate for the levels and not horrible for synth music. Controls: 4 ... A little loose, but plays just like an NES game. Replay value: 5 ... For some reason, I find myself wanting to unlock everything and not cheat. Overall: 4 Even if you haven't played these games before, you will probably enjoy them. If you get frustrated easily, you better buy some extra controllers to go with it.
Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the Game Cube
If you are a diehard Rockman or Megaman fan, and you have a Gamecube, and you somehow didn't get this game, either I should smack you silly, or I'll let you do that to yourself. Repent and get one on ebay NOW. I know, with the recent 8-bit make of Megaman 9 coming out for the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 this collection is incomplete, but still, hey, it is worth getting anyhow (before all 9 games of the original series make it in one compilation for one of the future console giants). Plus, the two Megaman Power Battles (first one is really fun on the arcade) are included. Plus, unlike the PS2 and Xbox version the Gamecube manual is in full-colour, so it'll make a good little souvenir. Go, go, go. The original series is how Megaman began. Those born in the late 90s should take this as your Megaman history lesson, and learn to RESPECT retro video games. You'd better, or I'll jump on your fat stomachs, each and every one of you.
Mega Man Anniversary for Game Cube
I originally bought this game because I am a fan of the Blue Bomber; Mega Man. I like the fact that this collection has all of the original Mega Man titles included, as well as 2 games that were never released on a game console, only at the arcades. A few things I didn't like about the way the games were: 1 - The MM8 movies were choppy, and scaled to the tv size causing eye sore jaggies, along with the games themselves with no way to view them in original screen size. 2 - The button configuration was backwards for the first first 6 MM games making it hard to get use to them from the original settings. A few things I do like about the collection: 1 - All the games in one collection 2 - The interview and extra material 3 - The dedication Capcom has put into Mega Man all the years I mostly just wanted to add this to my collection of Mega Man, so I decided to buy it. Overall it just may take some extra time to appreciate it. If you are a collector of all thing Mega Man, I suggest you give it a try. If you wish to get a collection of Mega Man games for the sole interest of playing, I suggest you get the XBox version.
