EA Games' Medal of Honor series once again deploys first-person shooter fans to some of the most heated battles of World War II, in European Assault. Players take command of a squad of specialist operatives and engage in critical missions in the European Theater. As they move through the storyline, players become acquainted with powerful, recurring characters that represent the most ruthless officers to ever serve in Hitler's armed forces. Actions taken in the field affect future missions, and the success of Allied effort overall. The single-player campaign has gamers taking the role of U.S. Army Lieutenant William Holt, who has the honor of being chosen as the first field agent to serve under the newly formed Office of Strategic Services. Holt embarks on a number of secretive, commando-style missions, such as gathering intelligence about Nazi troop movements and sabotaging the Axis' development of atomic weapons. In addition to these clandestine operations, Lieutenant Holt faces plenty of historical shooter action, as his missions lead him to vital engagements across Europe, including Stalingrad and the Battle of the Bulge. Like earlier games in the series, European Assault boosts detailed historical accuracy in both its mission locations and available equipment. The storyline of European Assault was written by accomplished screenplay author and movie director John Milius, who is known for his creative contributions to films such as Dirty Harry, Jaws, and Apocalypse Now. The counsel of other experts was recruited as well, including Captain Dale Dye, USMC (ret.), who has served as the series' Military Technical Advisor since it launched in 1999. Once again, developers also consulted with the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. |

Good graphics
Compelling gameplay
Good value
A great addition to the series.
This game is a welcome and refreshing addition to the Medal of Honor series. The game has alot less linear story than previous installments. You can choose what you want to do and where you want to go...within reason. I mean you still HAVE to do some things to complete missions. It's nice to fight alongside a "team" whom you can control...well sort of. You can command your team to do things like cover you etc... but it seems they only listen half the time and when they do do it, they do what they are ordered to do for like 20 seconds, then they go back to being stupid. And that is pretty much my only complaint. The graphics are on par with other games of a similar nature, not superb, but not at all bad. The missions are pretty tough as you go on. The story is about as good as past games, good or bad depending on your assessment of previous games. The enemy intelligence is upper for this game (compared to previous games int eh series). The controls are just like every MOH game, so if you've played it before, there is no learning curve. The replay value is pretty good, thanks to some codes you can get off the internet. This game is classic medal of honor, everything you have come to love is there, and even some things you'll learn to love!
Very Pleased...
This version of MOH was definitely one of the best. Instead of following a basic "path" in the other MOHs, you actually have to choose where you are going next and build strategies to more effectively defeat the enemy. Better graphics, excellent story line, and great gameplay makes this game a keaper. The multiplayer is an interesting approach: in Rising Sun you could fight against AI players in multiplayer mode. In this game however you fight against up to three friends with many combinations of ways to play. Capture the flag, meet your Nemesis, as well as Axis vs. Allies make this multiplayer portion of the game a blast! Gameplay is a little slower because strategy is more involved. Several people think that the MOH games are too easy; maybe they should turn the difficulty level from Recruit to Hero and they will probably see the difference. This game is nearly impossible even on Veteran. I would say the only few things that are bad about this game is that (1) your squad is not the smartest group of people at all and (2) a couple more levels might be nice. Overrall I highly reccomend this game to anyone who wants a one-player first person challenge and a multiplayer strategic blast! It is worth the money and the time!
Much improved MOH
The European Theater edition of Medal of Honor brings squad level action to the franchise. You get three squad members who respond to your attack and retreat commands. You can also use your health packs to restore their health and keeping them alive carries over more health from level to level. Levels have greater depth and more potential for exploration compared to earlier editions of MOH. While not at the depth of GTA, they offer a more interesting and satisfying experience. European Assault is a high quality WWII first person shooter that adds valuable features to the Medal of Honor series. You won't be disappointed by its gameplay and features.
Highly Addictive!
This game takes the fast paced shooter that the Medal of Honor series is, and gives it something that the series has always needed. Freedom. The levels are open ended and objectives everywhere. I think the best thing though about Medal of Honor European Assault, would have to be the boss battles. Each level has a boss battle. Everything that could have been improved from Rising Sun, is improved. This games only downfall is the fact that it is just too short. Another sad thing about this game is that they took the entire multiplayer aspect out. The problem with that is, this plays so much more like a Call of Duty game. Even though the game is short, I can still see myself going through each level again to get every objective. European Assault is hands down the best Medal of Honor game on the consoles.
Time waits for no one
Now I'm going to be fairly negative in this review Not because I hate the game but because I loved the game back when it was new. I would love to say that it's still as good as ever and that it's still a must play.....That would be a lie, the game has not held up well at all, The controls are Archeic And just feel wrong and Inefficient compared to modern ones, the graphics are ..... Uncanny and for some reason the game seems to have some strange filter on at all times on thop of that it has some absurd motion blur and doesn't allow you to increase sensitiveity. Honestly considering the price of Call of duty finest hour and Medal of honor Frontline I honestly see no point in getting this game.
