Mario and friends break out their clubs and head to the Game Boy Advance, for a round on the system's first Nintendo-published golf game. Developed by Camelot Software Planning, which also crafted Mario Golf for GBC and N64 as well as the contemporary Toadstool Tour for GameCube, Advance Tour offers the characters and colorful Mario World courses that fans expect, with improvements to both play and presentation over its handheld predecessor. The game uses a conventional swing system, with button-taps along a moving meter determining power and accuracy, but practiced players can exercise greater control by using the "B" button instead of the more forgiving "A" button. An emphasis on role-playing elements allows players to get to know their characters and custom-develop their skills. Single players begin as amateurs, earning prestige and custom clubs as they move up the leader board to eventually face pros like Mario or Yoshi. A selection of mini-games can also help characters hone their skills. As many as four Advance Tour players can compete together through a link connection. Compatibility with the GameCube's Toadstool Tour offers properly equipped Nintendo-philes new options on both systems, including the ability to transfer Advance Tour characters to the GameCube game. |

Good graphics
Compelling gameplay
Good value
Golf + RPG = Awesome!
A golf game with RPG elements? What's going on? An amazing game, that's what! If you like golf games at all, you love this one. The controls strike a beautiful balance between easy to pick up and challenging to master, the game has loads of stuff to do in it, and the graphics are a pleasure to look at. Best of all, at it's core this games has probably the best 2D golf engine I've ever seen. It creates the feel of a 3D golf course convincingly enough that it's easy to forget that this is a 16-bit game. As for the RPG part? It works well, and makes the one player mode a bit more interesting and involving than the typical golf handheld, but don't expect an epic and engaging story-line. I only have two minor critiques of this game: Firstly, there's a bit of a learning curve issue. It's a little easy until the end, at which point it gets very hard. The other is that, while I'd never think I'd say this, there's almost too much stuff to unlock. Half of me is like "Oh man! I only have half the characters unlocked: I need to keep it up!" and the other half is "Ohhh GOD! How many times do I have hit this ball around the grass??" It is just a golf game, after all. I think its designers expected the player to get more into golf games than is humanly possible for the average person. But when my mind goes numb from birdies, skins games, and backspin, I just set the game aside for a few weeks, so I can rediscover how fun it is again later.
Great Game
The game is a lot of fun, it made my husband to take up golf . With this game it allows you to upgrade your characters and transfer them along with their news skills over to the next GameCube Mario Golf.

Mario Golf for Game Boy Advance
This Mario Golf Game Boy Advance game was for my 4 year-old. He was looking for a new game for his Game Boy, and we looked on ebay because it is difficult (or next to impossible) to find new Game Boy games in stores. He was interested in this game because he likes to play golf on out Wii, he enjoys the Mario characters, and the price was reasonable. The game arrived in great condition with a manual. What I don't like about it is that you can only play with a generic boy and girl player when you play in single player mode. You cannot play with any Mario player in single player mode (unless we are doing something wrong). In multiplayer mode, you can choose from several Mario characters. My son enjoys playing in multiplayer mode better than single player mode because of the Mario characters. I've never played the game myself, but my 4 year-old has no problem playing, so I assume it must be fairly easy to understand. The graphics look great, and he enjoys the sounds effects the game makes. Overall, we are very happy with the purchase and would recommend this game to others. My older son wonders why this game is not made as a DS game also, but I assume it was discontinued.
OOOH Here we go
This is by far the best golf game out there for Game Boy! You can build your Character up by winning Tournaments and special Events..Which gives you points and makes your golfer better..You can go Solo or with a partner...When you Win all the Events (Any TOP 3 ) you get to the Mushroom cup ( Very Tricky Course, eg BOMBS, SPECIAL MARKERS ON COURSE WITH MOVES YOUR BALL TO A NEW POSITION ) to face MARIO, LUIGI,DONKEY KONG,PRINCESS, TOAD,WARIO...This is a must game for everyone..MY wife hates sports games but she was sold on this one..You can pick one up from ebay for about $10us (WELL WORTH THE $$$) Also it will save your game data and can be linked up with another GBA if you have 2 Games ) VERY HARD TO PUT DOWN!!
Great golf game for newcomers and more skilled players!
I bought this game because it got a good review on GameSpot and a reviewer on one of the video game podcasts I listen to highly recommended this game. It's good. I've never played a golf video game before, but this is fun! I've been playing it for a hour night ever since I got it. I had bought the GameCube version of this game - Toadstool Tour - and I hadn't played it all until I got this game. Now I'm splitting my time between the two, so that I can import my character from Advance Tour into Toadstool Tour (BTW, another great feature of this game). Advance Tour is a great game by itsef but the connectivity with its GameCube cousin makes it a must-have! Make this a part of your video game collection!
