Major League Baseball's only cross-console video game series returns to the field with a 2010 release for Xbox 360. Built on the same engine as the previous year's game, the 2K10 edition of the MLB game boasts improvements in accuracy and offers new features to give players more control while pitching and hitting. The "Total Hitting Control" system allows players on offence to swing for the fences, aim for a base hit or sacrifice with a well-placed fair ball, or foul the ball out of play to work against the pitcher's stamina in a full-count battle, to wait for an easier throw. The 2K10 edition also introduces a "Batter's Eye" feature for hitters, which occasionally gives players a momentary preview of where a pitch will cross the plate. The frequency and length of the "Batter's Eye" preview depends on the skill and accuracy of the athlete at the plate. On defense, the game's "Total Control Pitching" system is designed to allow pitchers to put the ball right where they want it, working the corners to wear the hitter out and tempt him to take a swing at a tougher pitch. The accuracy of the system depends on the pitcher's real-life skills and stats in the league, as well as his stamina and current pitch count. For gamers who want to place themselves in the action, the "My Player" mode allows for the creation and development of a custom player, from the farm leagues through a career in the Bigs and, with dedication and a little luck, on to immortality in Cooperstown. In addition to the new features, the game has undergone dozens of refinements, for smoother transitional animations, more accuracy between the play on the field and the umpire's calls, and a better-integrated presentation. Very very pleased with this purchase. The price was very fitting. I'm not a big 360 user, but I really like baseball games and played MVP Baseball (2004) for Gamecube a lot so decided to 'upgrade' and browsed around for used 360 baseball games. This product caught my eye immediately, notably it's awesome price and free shipping. The condition was excellent as well -- no scrapes or scratches on the disc, the boxing was intact and fine, and all came packaged quite securely. Only compliant is that the game did not come with a manual - which isn't so bad, for games are usually intuitive and easy to learn/play... but I do like to peruse through and read about the technical stuff...
MLB 2K10 (XBOX 360)
Intuitive controls, quick pick up and play style, but still robust for the die hard fan. The My Player feature is a welcome addition to the franchise, but still lacks depth per the position players. The game is designed as a pitcher vs hitter game, and it fully delivers. If the programmers could figure out the 2nd baseman then it may just deserve a higher grade, but he rarely makes the double play throw, no matter what team you play for. Overall a good buy as the price has dropped, expect an even better 2K11.
Entirely new experience.
Well first off I want you to know that I have more than enough time to learn and play the 2K10 Baseball game, I'm young and in a nursing home, by young I mean early 50's. I'm in here to pass and not to compatible with the other residents mainly because of the age difference. But I'm really bored and need things to help me get by in here before I go crazy and 2K10 Baseball is just the thing, I can actually set up my team and play an entire baseball season. I thought that I would have to purchase newer games of this, but I'm fine with it just as it is. graphics are great and the game does take some time to get use to and play, but once you master offence and diffence and pitching. Its well worth learning. I give this game 5/5 There's nothing like it when it comes to Baseball.
For Serious Baseball Fans Only
The Game Was Fairly Well, A Definite Improvement over past years, still has many challenges to overcome, but the new My Player feature is what makes this game a must buy for baseball fans you can take your created and put into any major league farm system you want and eventually he'll earn his spot to the big show.
Manual
The game is much better than the manual. It took a lot of online searches, and experimentation to figure out the mechanics of the game that wasn't explained well enough in the manual. I now enjoy it very well.
