Set against the backdrop of an inter-galactic penal colony, Loaded sees players, as one of six psychotic inmates, attempting to navigate fifteen enemy-laden levels en route to their ultimate goal; the killing of the sadistic warden -- known as FUB (Fat Ugly Boy) -- of said penal colony. The characters, with names such as Butch, FWANK, Cap N Hands, Mamma, Bounca, and Vox run the gamut from cross-dressing freaks and cyborg pirates to demented clowns and female cyber-criminals. All are rated in a handful of categories; each possessing differing speed, vitality and damage potential attributes. Armed with their character's weapon of choice, up to two players can blast their way through stages populated by fellow inmates, guards, straight-jacket laden mental patients, rats, and more. While objectives are present, the basic formula amounts to scouring each level in search of color-coded keys that will allow you to advance further into the level, while blasting hostiles and collecting ammunition and health power-ups to replenish your reserves. A small on-screen map allows you to find your way through the maze-like stages. Each character is also capable of performing a strafe maneuver to avoid enemy attacks. In addition to the rudimentary health and ammunition boxes, power-ups can be obtained that increase the power of your weapon, temporarily freeze enemies, make you invisible for a brief period of time, imbue your character with limited invulnerability, or make you faster, with unlimited ammo for a set time. Should the overwhelming tide of enemies prove too much, each character is also capable of unleashing a set number of smart bomb-esque weapons that will clear all on-screen enemies. The action is viewed from a top-down perspective, and can be zoomed in or out as desired. Coins can be collected throughout each level and at the end of each stage, you'll be given a Greed rating based upon the amount you gathered. |

I think LOADED was a game that was ahead of its time back in 1996 (at least its theme). It is a game which gameplay is borrowed from GAUNTLET (top view moving characters blasting their way out of the level) but with some twist and mature content that is special nowadays on first person shooter games. With this elements LOADED is a pretty fun game to play, you got 6 (psycopath) characters with unique abilites and special attacks which adds to the gameplay specially if you are playing on a cooperative two player mode, which I thinks is were everything turns out to mayhem (good of course). The game was pretty violent and bloody (your shooting path looked like a slaughter house afterwards) and had adult content deep within. The game theme is dark and morbid/fun and you can tell by looking at the inspirational characters illustrations and reading their profiles. The graphics is all what you expect from a first generation Playstation game so expect some pixelation, slowdowns etc.. but its all good and all becomes part of the game...as a historical technological check point Also some premature 32bit compressed FMV are included. The music fits the game perfectly, I just cant describe what type it is, but its something that you can tag the 90's electronica or industrial theme on it (maybe I am wrong). Artist involved is: Pop Will Eat Itself. My own experience with LOADED: The first time I got in touch with LOADED was from a demo disk that came with my Playstation back in 1996.. from all the games that were included WARHAWK and LOADED were my favorites, constantly playing it even thou it was one level and one character available. So years later on a PAWN SHOP / COLLLECTORS STORE in Fort Lauderdale Florida I found the game on a shelf for around $10. The store owner told me it was a really wanted game sought after by collectors, and that everytime it came to the store it was sold as hot bread, and this was back in 2001. That same game copy I bought I accidentally broke it 2 years ago... and now I got a copy recently purchased from Ebay(just bought the disk only since I still had the original box), and still play the game, over 10 years later and still love this game. It is just fun to play.. pick up and shoot, blast everything that moves or that stands in your way. FINAL WORDS: If you buy this game, do not expect current generation graphics or gameplay (its an early 32-bit era title!), think of it as a classic top view shooter game with enhanced graphics and sound, and of course with awesome characters and their unique special attacks. I gave the game a "Good" review instead of "Excellent" because it might get too repeatative further into the gameplay, but that is how it is. If you are into shooters, violence, psychopaths, deatailed characters illustrations, Gauntlet, Contra, adrenlaine rush and all that cool stuff... then what are you waiting for? LOADED PLAYSTATION GAME
I think this is a good game for the playstation.It may be your simple overhead shooter,but at least the controls are good,and it's a blast to play.Sure this game may seem dated to most,and the graphics aren't anything speacial,but that dosen't mean it isn't fun to play.To me the plot is what makes this game so good.You can choose to play from six different phychotics,and the object is to run around shooting everything that moves.It may seem disturbing to some being it's rated mature,but I give it point's for creativity.Anyway if you see this one used pick up a copy.It's sure to provide hours of mindless,but fun entertainment.
Loaded for Playtion the original
When I had the game loaded it was very exciting. The game is simple and the action is really great. This game is loaded litterally. It will definely take the days frusttaions out and release the inner trigger happy killer. It is my favorite game and the only thing i wish was that it was also made for PC. The levels are great. You can choose the character you want to be and of course each character has it's own specialty about them. My favorite character has to be the clown. Because i think clowns are creepy and this one really is creepy. So enjoy the action and the trigger happy shootin. When you play this game.

Hello sorry for my bad english i'm french, but i remerber when i baught the first playstation, there is an cd demo inside the box with the console... Y always run the demo og Loaded, i love this game so "barbare" so speed and with his music rock it was so good! So, it's just for my personal nostalgie, good remerbers and now 'i can finish it, not only the first level! Bertrand
Great Retro Fun
This game is the reason why I bought a PS1 back in the day. It's fast, has some slow down, but what would you expect for a 33mhz machine with all the effects and lighting. It's quite violent, so not for little kiddies, but great for everyone else. Object of the game, kill everything, pick up door keys and away you go.
