| In Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, things are getting hot. So hot, in fact, that the ice is melting, and now Manny, Diego, and Sid have to get to dry land before they are washed away forever. Rumor has it there is a boat ready to take all the animals to a safe place, but getting the three furry friends to it in time won't be so easy. Players must navigate the animals through water parks, geysers, and tar pits, using each character's special skill to complete the stage. A Mammoth-like Manny will push things, dentist-deprived Diego can jump over gaps, and slow-moving Sid can climb ladders and monkey bars. The Nintendo DS version of Ice Age 2: The Meltdown includes mini-games such as "Go Nuts," "Split Identity," and "Sid's Slippery Sloth Slide Challenge" to give players a break from the quest at hand. | |

Sierra did a great job with the graphics, and game play. The animation is awesome on this game just like a mini movie, but you control all the characters. You play all the characters of the movie, and you switch from character to character to utilize their own unique abilities, to progress in the game. It is also a race against time, before the level floods. There are only certain areas where you are able to switch from character to character. You may be doing great as Diego the Saber Tooth, but you have to switch to Manny to use his strength to remove heavy objects, blocking Diego's way. Sid the Sloth has his own abilities, so it is a fast paced game. You back track to get the character you need for the specific encounter you are facing, all this while the water level meter keeps rising. The Scrat mini game is crazy and using all the comical antics of Scrat, that we know and love from the movie, it will amuse any Scrat fan. This game utilizes the DS touch screen and stylus, to contol character movements, watch water meter levels and maps to find the items you need to progress in the game. Fair priced Nintendo DS game for an 8 year old
According to my 8 year old grand daughter, who was the recipient of this game, it's "awesome". We bought her the new Nintendo DS for her birthday and needed to include some games. They are quite expensive in the retail stores, so I looked on ebay and was lucky enough to find this one and a couple of others at reasonable prices. I am sorry I can't give you a first hand evaluation, but my son says it is age appropriate and she is enjoying it.

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (Nintendo DS)
I bought for my kids, but it is a little too hard for my 5 yr old and 8 year old to understand. It is a complicating game of changing players and remembering how they work and which each one do. your giving a time limit to find other animals and if you dont find one in time you die and have to start all over again.

I LOVE it because it made my granddaughter happy! she is A 6 year old and loves the game;;that's all i need!!!
