Slight glitch with mine, others may vary.
I would need to check yet, the last episode from one disc is repeated in the first episode of the next disc, the only difference is the titles. After I finish watching the complete first season, I will report any other, if any issues. Everything else is fabulous with great audio and video. I am tempted to purchase the full 20 years but, I can't justify the cost of $800.00 or more. A REAL GEM!
Gunsmoke was one of my family's all time favorite tv shows and we looked forward to receiving this DVD set of the first season to see early black and white half hour shows of the characters we loved. We found that this set was done well and with quality and well worth the price. If you love GUNSMOKE too, you will be sure to enjoy it. Of course the first episode was introduced by none other than another family favorite John Wayne. It was great to see Chester again and a host of guest stars including Chuck Conners, Dan Blocker, Robert Vaughn, Charles Bronson, and Royal Dano. The only thing disappointing was that we ran out of episodes! We wanted more! GUNSMOKE-COMPLETE FIRST SEASON
This set consolidates the original Columbia House mail order (six disc) series into one package. The video quality is the same as the mail order series. The pilot episode which is introduced by none other than "THE DUKE" John Wayne is interesting due to the fact that while its decent, you would never believe that a twenty year series evolved from it. When watching this series remember that the producers, writers and actors all had parents which were born in the 1800's which gives first hand perspective into the 19th century. The story lines are basic and no frills just like the 19th century was so join Matt, Chester, Galen(Doc) and Miss Kitty for a western adventure which was to last twenty years. Brings back good memories
The first 6 seasons are not available on my streaming service and I can't get ME TV on my antenna, so these DVD's are perfect. I love the old commercials, too.

Best of the original TV westerns
As children we were allowed to stay up and watch this program weekly. It contained good moral values, respect for authority and law. Matt Dylan was firm and righteous for his responsibilities as a lawman. Back in those days use of GUNS were a necessary restraint in society. Now we have our more modern police force. "Gunsmoke" was a great show that depicted how law and order were needed back then, and even still today . These older shows can never be replaced by the looseness of moral values depicted in 99% of the movies shown on TV today.As children we were allowed to stay up and watch this program weekly.
