One of Activision's most successful franchises joins forces with one of rock's most enduring bands in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. The series, known for making gamers feel like rock stars, first put real rock stars into games with the inclusion of guitar gods Slash and Tom Morello as boss characters in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, but Guitar Hero: Aerosmith lets players follow the legendary Boston-based quintet's ascension from the tiny Nipmuc High School auditorium to center stage at the Super Bowl XXXV halftime show. More of a healthy, Aerosmith-themed expansion of Guitar Hero III than a completely new entry in the series, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith nevertheless offers more than 40 new rock songs to which gamers can shred. The track list is heavy with Aerosmith classics like "Dream On," "Sweet Emotion," and "Rag Doll," but the game also features songs from groups that have influenced or toured with the band, including Mott the Hoople, New York Dolls, and The Black Crowes. Gamers can begin as familiar characters from Guitar Hero III like Axel Steel and Midori, but eventually they'll be able to jam as guitarists Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton. New outfits become available as players progress through the six venues, and for the first time in the series, all five members of the group will be on stage at once. Lead singer Steven Tyler spent a month shooting motion capture video, while Perry, Hamilton, and Brad Whitford shred on dozens of real guitars from their personal collection, all of which can be unlocked. Though Guitar Hero: Aerosmith features standard issue rhythm-based gameplay, the single-player difficulty level has attenuated, and gamers are only confronted by one boss battle. Co-op career mode has been removed, but gamers can still go head-to-head or unlock songs cooperatively in the regular career mode. |

Good graphics
Compelling gameplay
Good value
Heartfelt, hard rock.
Guitar Hero lovers, Aerosmith fans, and truthfully those like myself who just like music and games prepare to pick up your plastic guitars and kick it! In guitar hero style, this game has you going place to place playing different songs, some of which aren't Aerosmith. It's a great game and it even features genuine history from both rock and Aerosmith as well as other famous bands in the venues you're playing. It's genuinely informative but holds your interest (and in guitar hero style makes the load screens a little less painful). I take the most appreciation in creators simply for featuring Mama Kin, which I personally feel is Aerosmith's best song. This game is worth a jam and if you're tight for cash, a lot of sellers right here on ebay sell quality [used] discs rather cheap! It's all about the music, and does not fail to entertain.
Great - If you REALLY LOVE Aerosmith
As a Guitar Hero fan, I knew I had to have Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. As an Aerosmith fan AND a Guitar Hero fan, I knew I'd like it. Problem is, you have to really. really. really. REALLY. LOVE. Aerosmith to fully appreciate this edition of Guitar Hero. And I guess I just don't love them enough because this game is BORING. I found myself thrilled to be playing the opening songs, and I felt as though playing through each level's Aerosmith set was a chore. I was bored with Medium difficulty, but Hard was nearly impossible on the Aerosmith songs after the first set or two. The combination of all these factors makes this $50 game almost worthless for all but the most serious GH and Aerosmith fanatics as regards replay value. It's a modified version of GH3 in terms of graphics and gameplay (much like the Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's is a modified version of GH2). The only new element, really, is the addition of Aerosmith band members, both playable and non-playable. The usual Guitar Hero characters are whittled down to a paltry few, and some of my favorite characters have gone missing. The elements that have made Guitar Hero in general and Guitar Hero 3 in particular so entertaining and engaging are reduced or absent from GH: Aerosmith. The battles introduced in GH3 are phenomenal fun, but there's only one in GH:A. Another great element of past GH games is the sheer variety of songs and artists in the setlist, encores, and available for unlocking in the store. In GH: Aerosmith, 60% of the setlist is compose of Aerosmith songs (fair enough!). But to make matters especially mono-chromatic, all bonus songs available for unlock -- not that many -- are by Aerosmith and Aerosmith-derived artists. There's only so much of one artist one can stand before switching off the game or popping in good ol' GH:1-3 to have some real fun. The upside? They brought back (non-career) cooperative multiplayer.
Yo my first time buying off ebay
I applaud that the game works and comes with everything. The original book Manuel and game disc wasn't that bad. I love it. Kudos dude and thank you.

Fun and addicting
Enjoyed the variety of songs and options. A little disappointed in the graphics. Especially love the video cuts of the band talking about how things happened!
