Fighters History Lawsuit info
Fighter's History from Data East was like many other "me too" titles to emerge from the fighting game boom of the early 90's, thanks to the success of Street Fighter 2. Perhaps too so for the folks behind Street Fighter, Capcom, hence their decision to sue Data East for what they felt were uncomfortable similarities, ranging from the game's characters to even the control scheme. Ultimately, the case was dismissed, and in Data East's defense, it's not as if they were the only ones who were ripping off Capcom's winning formula. But most are unaware of the situation's irony; five years prior, Data East attempted to sue another game publisher, Epyx, for its World Karate Championship, which they felt was too close to their own fighting game, Karate Champ. Again, the case was dismissed and labeled by most as frivolous.
Fighter's History
I remember playing this game as a kid. I love the clown character who throws cards at you. Otherwise the game pretty much copies street fighter. It was also pretty easy. I beat the game in a half hour. It's fun but a good game for beginners.
A decent fighter for SNES
For being a Street Fighter clone its pretty good, from the graphics to the sound its a good game. I just wished they added more characters to choose from. Definitely something collectors should own.
