Good graphics
Compelling gameplay
Good value
Donkey Kong Land (Nintendo Game Boy)
Donkey Kong Land is an almost-remake of Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. DK Land stays very true to its console counterpart-in level design, gameplay, and even graphical capability. The Game Boy screen is monochromatic, but even so, the graphics bear the same three-dimensional look as the SNES version. Gameplay is also similar; DK and Diddy's moves are easy to learn and execute, and the control schematic fits like a glove. The game takes a while to complete, and also has considerable replay value. Shrinking the gameplay area in the transition to a handheld system was tricky, but Nintendo and Rareware did well. The screen remains uncluttered by hiding various stats until they are needed(for example, your banana count is only shown when you collect some bananas.) The most significant change from the original is the altered level design. Some of the worlds and levels have been slightly redesigned to more accomodate the Game Boy's small screen and simple button schematic. However, this does not detract from the game's appeal. In conclusion, this is a wonderful game for most gamers, especially DK fans. It's a great game to have in any original Game Boy collection, too!
The music is incredible!!!
This game has the most amazing music you will ever hear on the GameBoy outside of homebrew chiptunes. The game play can be a little tricky without proper lighting conditions but other than that it's a great game. Try it on a Super GameBoy for a cool jungle leaves border.

Donkey Kong Country was a fun and popular platformer for the SNES.
Donkey Kong Country was a fun and popular platformer for the SNES, but not everyone thought it was great. Some people (possibly Mega Drive owners) said the game was in fact quite poor and any fans were deluded fools drawn to it for reasons other than gameplay – or, as Cranky Kong says, “put a few fancy graphics and some modern music in a game, and kids'll buy anything nowadays...”. His comments come in the instruction booklet for Donkey Kong Land, setting up the story as he challenges Kongs Donkey and Diddy to try a similar adventure on an 8-bit system. They agree, and after Cranky has contacted King K. Rool to steel the banana horde again, the duo set out for a new adventure.
AWESOME GAME / ON A RESTRICTIVE PLATFORM
Looking back, the graphics & play are for sure outdated. It is still an awesome game. With the limiting options available for developing these games at the time they are profoundly well made and fun to this day. I'd advise trying it on the GBA SP if possible as it's a much more enjoyable experience.

Great Monkey Adventure Game
Donkey Kong Land is one of the best classic Game Boy games. The graphics seem horrible compared to what we have today, but the game is great considering when it came out. I really like this game because it is a classic adventure game similar to Mario. It is not like all the games around these days that use guns as your method of destroying enemies. It is a great challenging game that can entertain for hours with its many levels available. Best of all it is one of the few original Game Boy games that allows you to save your progress. This game is great for all ages. Who does not want to be a monkey for a while?
