Released in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the hugely influential Nintendo Entertainment System console (which first appeared in Japan as the Famicom, in 1984), the "Classic NES Series" of Game Boy Advance cartridges present accurate versions of original NES games, for play on the handheld. Donkey Kong for the NES did a remarkable job of capturing nearly everything that made the 1981 arcade game great. The graphics are an almost exact reproduction, and the sound is nearly perfect. The timing and speed of characters and objects also matches up well. The omission of the conveyor belt level is the only significant difference. |

Pretty good donkey kong port!!!
This particular port is a good rendition of the 1981 arcade classic. The controls are smooth and the graphics are as good as can be expected for an 8 bit conversion. It is missing a level that was present in the arcade (the cement factory) and there are some glitches present but overall this game provides an enjoyable playing experience. For the handheld experience of playing Donkey Kong you really can't go wrong with this game.

A Classic Game
I played this game at our local movie theater and also got it for our Intelevision. This is a great opportunity to play the original Donkey Kong with true graphics and sounds (for the most part). The game plays just like I remember it and it brings back fond memories of hours wasted in front of the TV. It gets old after awhile because video games have come a long way in 20-30 years, but it is fun to play now and then.

Great memories.. but gets old real fast.
Great retro game.. but only has 3 leves and I had it beat in under 15 minutes. Missing levels from the arcade game.

Total Classic!
You can't get much more retro than Donkey Kong. People still to this day flock to this arcade classic! Loved by many and gaining fans every year. I'm sure the newer generation can dig it's simplicity and immediate fun factor!! Total Classic!
