| Humphrey Bogart stars as Rip Murdock, a World War II veteran ensnared in a web of crime and conspiracy when his best friend, Johnny Drake (William Prince), disappears en route to Washington, D.C., to receive a war medal. More than rough Around the Edges!
I am totally pleased with this wonderful film noir starring Humphrey Bogart and Lizabeth Scott. The story is very well told and I love films with red herrings, so this one is all the more better! Miss Scott is absolutely lovely in this film as usual and her acting is sublime. The chemistry between Bogart and Scott is very well established as one can tell that 'something' is brewing. The cinematography is great also! This film is definitely worth the watch if you like a lot of action and mystery - and you definitely get both!

DEAD RECKONING - BUY IT
Dead Reckoning is a well above average movie and a must for the film noir collector. It is a tight and well thought out script. I found the acting well done. Keep in mind that this is a forties picture and the style of acting was different than acting done today. My only complaint is Bogart’s acting when he is talking on the phone in at least three scenes. His lines are delivered too fast and unbelievable. Lizabeth Scott gave an excellent performance. Her beauty and hair is stunning and one is mesmerized looking at her. This in itself is well worth buying the movie. There are those that think Lauren Bacall should have had this part. I truly don’t think Bacall could have handled it better plus, she is not as pretty as Lizabeth Scott. Lizabeth’s fine acting had the viewer fooled right up to the last. One is unsure if she is a bad girl or a good girl. The movie is very well produced on DVD release. Buy it.

Lots of twists.I like Lizabeth Scott, so I prefer when she plays a good girl and not a villain. Bogart is great as usual .

Geronimo! Bogie Jumps Into Another Film Noir
Dead Reckoning (1947) is a decent film noir starring Humphrey Bogart as an ex-paratrooper who finds himself in the middle of a mystery when his paratrooper friend skips out on receiving a military award and is found murdered. While not as good as Bogart’s greatest detective and gangster pictures, Dead Reckoning is entertaining, and Bogie delivers a strong performance.

A Good Film Noir
Good but sometimes slow moving who done it in typical Film Noir style of the 40's. Has all the elements of its genre. Bogie always delivers and Lizabeth Scott is superb in her role. An enjoyable Bogie flick.
