| Outdoor outfitter Cabela's continues its risk-embracing hunting series with another selection of the fiercest animals nature has to offer. Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2009 puts gamers in the boots of master hunter Flint Abrams as he travels the world on a series of missions to dispatch dangerous creatures such as grizzly bears, lions, and hyenas. Players are given three weapons: a high-powered rifle for long-range attacks, a short-range gun, and an emergency sidearm, but if a shot isn't on target then gamers may have to resort to melee combat to survive. Players can use Abrams' Hunter Sense to slow time and highlight animals and their tracks, and hunting gear and accessories such as scents and animal calls are also available. But in the unpredictable world of Cabela's Dangerous Hunts, gamers must always be on alert, because the hunt may see them wading through piranha-infested waters, scrambling away from stampeding elephants, or accidentally triggering an avalanche. | |

Hunters...not murderers.
The game has excellent graphics and multiple controls and things you can do. It takes you through a series of hunts on different continents. The only gripe I have so far is the way one hunt is set up. In Africa, there is a segment where the game calls for you to kill a Gazelle to use as Lion bait. Although, I understand the rationale, I was taught as a hunter that if you kill it, then you eat it unless you are defending yourself. My point is the message we are sending to young people playing the game may not be representative of our hunting culture. Now more than ever in our political climate we as hunters have to be concerned with image to preserve our freedoms and rights.

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2009
This is not just a shoot-em up game. There is quite a bit of strategy involved. Currently the animals are winning the majority of the time but I am learning to use the controls and the different options a little better each time I play. In the career mode, it can be nerve-racking because you are both the hunted and the hunter. This is not a gory game and it does require some skill. It can be played with the classic controller, rifle, zapper, or the remote with nunchuck. I would recommend this game for teen or higher - the controls and the strategy would be too advanced for young children. The action zone is a timed hunt mode that is easier to play - this is where I would start to hone my skills. Good luck and watch out for the hyenas!

dangerous hunts
I bought this as a Christmas present for m fiance. He was in a bad mood this past weekend so I decided to give it to him early. I can not get him to stop playing this game! He gets really into it and shh's me! The graphics are really good. He has this "gun" that holds the wii remote as well as the nunchuck. I'm pretty sure you can buy the accessories anywhere you can buy the wii. Very interesting game. The animals try to attack you if you miss them.

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2009 (wii,2009)
I bought this Wii game as my first shooter game for my wii. It is very challenging and hopefully will be easier to play once I receive the Shotgun Controller that comes with the game if you buy it in a retail location. I love the game, regardless of which controller I use. It is extremely challenging and I recommend it to any gamer.
