|Gamers yearning to learn the fundamentals of art can use their touch screen and stylus to flex their creative muscles in Art Academy. Pieced together from the previously released DSiWare titles Art Academy: First Semester and Art Academy: Second Semester, the game offers players ten full lessons and ten mini-lessons filled with continually evolving concepts and step-by-step examples. Lessons are moderated by the in-game art tutor Vince, and aspiring artists have the option of skipping or re-watching any particular lesson. There are multiple pencil and brush types from which to choose, and paint can be readily mixed and diluted to achieve many desired effects. A "Free Paint" mode lets gamers paint what they like, when they like, and DSi owners can use their system's camera to snap photos and then try to re-create them with paint or pencils.|

So much fun!
This game is basically an electronic portable art studio! You can go through the art tutorials if you'd like, but you are not required to do so. If you have a Nintendo DSi, you can load this game up and take your own photos to use as a reference while you're painting! There are 3 different art pencils for you to use while sketching (with the option to use the point or side of the pencil), and a rainbow of paints that you can mix to your heart's content. The game gives you the ability to customize how much paint is loaded on your paintbrush, whether you want to add water to the paint or not, and if so, how much water. I was truly amazed at how much customization this game allows, as well as how realistic it simulates drawing and painting! Definitely recommend this one for artists of all levels.
Babyboomer loves "Art Academy"-best drawing/painting program!
A great intro product for anyone who wants to learn about digital art making. This gives you the lessons, practice with the digital art tools and experience drawing on the touch screen. I am not a gamer but this appealed to me since I would love to do digital art but do not have money for a eTablet. I am still exploring the boundaries of what it can and can't do. I believe you can upload your images to Facebook. As a result of purchasing this software, I did upgrade my Nintendo DSI to the XL console. I hope that they will improve it in the future with more tools and the ability to send to your email so that you can print out what you make. I haven't found another digital art program that has the ease of use or the great dexterity of the touch screne.
I bought this for my daughter because she loves to draw. Me being the sketcher I am had to try it. That is when my daughter had to beg me for it back. Its very enjoyable and I learned a few tricks I was not aware of. Great game and great art learning class within a game. I wish there were more lessons on it.
great instructional product. she loved it!
purchased this for a 12 yr. old. she loves it. its not a game. it is instructional. that's why i bought it. you are learning and being creative. it is not just characters racing around like most others i've seen. it was difficult to find so i'm guessing it's very popular. e-bay seller actually ran out and i purchased from another source. i would recommend.
