Bungie's critically acclaimed sci-fi shooter makes its PC debut as part of Microsoft's Games for Windows label for Vista-powered machines. Players will suit up as the enigmatic Master Chief in an ongoing war against the alien armada known as the Covenant, who takes the bitter conflict to Earth in a campaign spanning 13 levels. The graphics have been optimized and revamped for PC, and all 21 multiplayer maps from the Xbox game and its expansion are included as well. Exclusive to the computer version is a map editor allowing players to create custom scenarios.<br><br>Both competitive and cooperative online action is supported via Microsoft's Games for Windows Live service under a two-tier system. The game ships with a free "silver" package that supports a single profile or Gamertag and a unified friends list shared between PC and Xbox 360 owners. The fee-based "gold" account allows players to host their own dedicated servers, send and receive invitations, earn multiplayer achievements, and use a matchmaking service that groups users with the same skill level. A free 30-day trial membership of Live Gold is included with each copy of Halo 2 on Vista.

    Great classic halo game.

    This product works with windows 10 and while it doesn’t link up with modern Xbox profiles that have gmail addresses, it will link up with an old Hotmail account somehow through the defunct Games for windows live. It worked for me and you can still get the achievements (single player at least).

    Great game

    It's a great game, loved it the first time I got it, lost it for a time, wanted to get it again, love the physical elements, I rather have the disk than own it digitally. I'm old school that way.

    good product, wrong operating system.

    I bought it to run on an old XP machine. It requires Vista. Apparently Microsoft had a hit with the first version that ran on XP. When they made Halo2 they only made it for their new Operating system Vista to enhance the sale of Vista. I bought this for my great grandson. He was so excited to get it .He loved Halo and played through the entire campaign. My research tells me that there was a fix made by some other company. I am not asking for my money back because I will track down this fix or install it in a virtual box.

    Great old game. Wanted to play on my PC. Forgot what a pain the securom setup was. After several updates and patches got it working. Microsoft BLAH!!

    The Game that got me into Halo. The gameplay is fantastic and the story is amazing to boot. Highly recommended.
