Comments on Modelling and Control of Robot Manipulators: ""Modelling and Control of Robot Manipulators" serves well as the main textbook for a semester robot manipulator coursea? This volume has taken robotics, key elements of automation, to the next level. Both novice and expert readers can benefit from this timely addition to robotics literaturea? [the authors] have earned and deserve our congratulations." Automatica 37 (2001) 1679 a? 1687 (Reviewers: Marco de Oliveira and Mo Jamshidi)   Successfully, the authors raise the standard for Robotics textbooks. It will be difficult for others to follow. Automatica 38 (2002) 1261 a? 1264 (Reviewer: Jae Lew)   "The book has an excellent balance of practical and advanced material (explanations, examples and problems) that take the introductory student to the level that useful research or applications can begin." Wayne Book, Georgia Institute of Technology   "Because of its modern treatment and its excellent breadth, "Modelling and Control of Robot Manipulators" is the required text for our core course in the Robotics Ph.D. Program." Matt Mason, Carnegie Mellon University   "Sciavicco and Sicillianoa's book achieves a good balance between simplicity and rigour. It is a comprehensive and excellent reference on robotic manipulators, with easy-to-follow notation and figures, lots of examples and a complete bibliography. I strongly recommend it!" Tim Salcudean, University of British Columbia   "This is the ultimate reference book in robotics, perfectly balanced between educational scopes and introductory research." Alessandro De Luca, Universita di Roma "La Sapienza", Robotics: Modelling, Planning and Control is a book that comprehensively covers all aspects of robotic fundamentals. It is particularly an excellent text for graduate educators, as it covers the fundamentals of the field with a rigorous formalism that is well blended with the technological aspects of robotics. The text covers in detail the theory of manipulators and wheeled robots starting with kinematics, dynamics and motion control, as well interaction with the environment through perception - force and vision sensors. The book is written by technical authorities in the field, and will be in invaluable addition to graduate education as well as a useful guide for industrial practitioners. Alexander Zelinsky, CSIRO, Australia   Robotics is a diverse field bringing together disparate areas from computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. This book is an integrative but rigorous treatment of all the relevant concepts, with an eye toward modern, practical applications making it an excellent choice for a first year graduate course in robotics. Vijay Kumar, University of Pennsylvania   This book provides rock-solid foundations for the study of classical mechanics and control of robots, with the authoritative character of a reference where you can surely find the correct expression and the rigorous derivation of the results you need. On top of this, new chapters on motion planning, visual servoing, and mobile robot control provide support to teaching wider and more interdisciplinary aspects of robotics, and open up vistas that will certainly inspire a new generation of scholars to embrace this incredibly rich and fertile research field. Antonio Bicchi, University of Pisa, Italy   This book offers a well-balanced and intellectually satisfying treatment of robot mechanics, planning, and control - from the choice and sequence of topics, to the level of detail in the analysis, and the clear connections made between the latest technologies and the theoretical foundations of robotics, this book is an essential element in the library of every aspiring young robotics researcher. Frank Chongwoo Park, Seoul National University   Robotics: Modeling, Planning and Control is a historiography from the materialistic view of robotics. Authors clearly explain physical and mathematical foundation to understand the most up-to-date robotics, so faithfully to bibliography and terminology in robotics. Unquestionably, the best textbook for senior students and graduate students and the closest reference book for engineers and scientists! Yoshihiko Nakamura, University of Tokyo   Exceptional! A text with such a span of robotics fundamentals and advanced research in both manipulation and mobility, and a treatment that creatively balances mathematical depth and physical intuition - a fresh and certainly unique reference for researchers and engineers in the field of robotics. Oussama Khatib, Stanford University   Certainly because of its youth, robotics is not always considered as a discipline as such. It is often introduced as a technological "area" integrating various aspects of mechanics, automatic control and computer science. Such a dispersed view is prejudicial for students. The book by Siciliano et al. achieves the introduction of the basic concepts in a coherent, self-contained and didactic way. In that sense, when reading Robotics: Modelling, Planning and Control the reader - from the undergraduate student to the researcher - understands that a new discipline is born, with its own foundations. Jean-Paul Laumond, LAAS-CNRS, Robotics: Modelling, Planning and Control is a book that comprehensively covers all aspects of robotic fundamentals. It is particularly an excellent text for graduate educators, as it covers the fundamentals of the field with a rigorous formalism that is well blended with the technological aspects of robotics. Synopsis
Robotics provides the know-how on the foundations of robotics: modelling, planning and control. It covers mobile robots, visual control and motion planning. A variety of problems are worked through, and the tools to find engineering solutions are explained., The classic text on robot manipulators now covers visual control, motion planning and mobile robots too! Based on the successful Modelling and Control of Robot Manipulators by Sciavicco and Siciliano (Springer, 2000), Robotics provides the basic know-how on the foundations of robotics: modelling, planning and control. It has been expanded to include coverage of mobile robots, visual control and motion planning. A variety of problems is raised throughout, and the proper tools to find engineering-oriented solutions are introduced and explained. The text includes coverage of fundamental topics like kinematics, and trajectory planning and related technological aspects including actuators and sensors. To impart practical skill, examples and case studies are carefully worked out and interwoven through the text, with frequent resort to simulation. In addition, end-of-chapter exercises are proposed, and the book is accompanied by an electronic solutions manual containing the MATLAB® code for computer problems; this is available free of charge to those adopting this volume as a textbook for courses., The classic text on robot manipulators now covers visual control, motion planning and mobile robots too Robotics provides the basic know-how on the foundations of robotics: modelling, planning and control. The text develops around a core of consistent and rigorous formalism with fundamental and technological material giving rise naturally and with gradually increasing difficulty to more advanced considerations. The theory of manipulator structures presented in the early part of the book encompasses: - the fundamentals: kinematics, statics and trajectory planning; and - the technology of actuators, sensors and control units. Subsequently, more advanced instruction is given in: - dynamics and motion control of robot manipulators; - mobile robots; - motion planning; and - interaction with the environment using exteroceptive sensory data (force and vision). Appendices ensure that students will have access to a consistent level of background in basic areas such as rigid-body mechanics, feedback control, and others. Problems are raised and the proper tools established to find engineering-oriented solutions rather than to focus on abstruse theoretical methodology. To impart practical skill, more than 60 examples and case studies are carefully worked out and interwoven through the text, with frequent resort to simulation. In addition, nearly 150 end-of-chapter problems are proposed, and the book is accompanied by a solutions manual (downloadable from www.springer.com/978-1-84628-641-4) containing the MATLAB(R) code for computer problems; this is available free of charge to those adopting Robotics as a textbook for courses. This text is suitable for use in senior undergraduate and graduate courses in automation and computer, electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering courses with strong robotics content., The classic text on robot manipulators now covers visual control, motion planning and mobile robots too! Book came packaged well to avoid damage, in great condition. Not sure if the seller delayed shipping or if usps didn’t update the shipping, which is highly likely. Still received and we are happy with our purchase. I had trouble looking up tracking due to the company they used but seller found usps tracking and sent that over quickly. Sellers communication was excellent. Would buy from again. Item as described.

I don't give negatives; However, description was not correct; No price guide was included in this book.As you will see in book pic shown; title states price guide included, no price guide inside. Communication poor, description, no communication price guide missing from this book. Shipping time was weeks before it was even shipped. Blamed the shipping on warehouse. You own & operate a business; your warehouse is not up to standards you change who you do business with. It's your responsibility.

Item arrived as described and adequately packaged. Ridiculously long shipping time. Seller posts incorrect tracking number and lists the item as shipped. Contacted seller for correct tracking, received a new tracking number with the warning that the number won’t be “live” until the item is shipped. Will you get your item? Yeah, probably. Count on it being delivered 2-3 weeks longer than expected.
