Rockband Xbox 360 guitar controller
Harmonix really struck gold and had a great idea with the Rockband games and making controller based instruments to simulate a gamer playing a song either solo or in a 'band' with friends. These games are great for co-op with friends IN PERSON as split-screen co-op is a dying thing, sadly, as most multiplayer games go online and single player only these days. The Rockband guitar is light, easy to hold, and with the strap, you can stand and play (healthier than sitting for most video games!), and the different difficulty settings make playing the instrument rather easy upon picking it up for the first time. This guitar I got was new out of the box, and worked fairly well. It's becoming harder to find new/unused ones as their really only meant for these games (the Guitar Hero instruments cane be used for Rockband games, FYI), so I spent the extra money to get a new instrument controller since the last used one I got on eBay had some loose and unresponsive buttons, which I think is probably more likely than most used console controllers due to how people use these more like Wii remotes and are more active or abusive with these instrument controllers while playing due to the nature of how they're used (people getting into the music- walking/standing/dancing around while playing) and the controller buttons themselves not as responsive and solid as console controllers as well- making them break easier. The break-away cable is nice so you can plug this into the console like a regular wire controller if you don't want to burn through batteries like a regular wireless controller. Just keep in mind you're more likely to pull this one out of the console while playing due to deploying 'overdrive' in a song (waving the guitar upwards in the air, which can be unresponsive). Still, a solid product and it's just fun to play music from some of your favorite artists- a great way to blow off some steam and relax, in my opinion, unless you want to play some metal songs on expert difficulty, of course ;)

The basic Guitar Hero/Rock Band guitar, gets the job done
This is the classic, first-party guitar to go with Rock Band, so in that regard you can trust it. But even back in the day when this first came out, I never found it to be particularly durable, it feels cheap, lightweight and delicate. My major gripe with it is that in the game, you're supposed to use your super "star power" to get bonus points, and you activate this by "rocking out" and jerking your guitar neck up, ZZ Top style. Theoretically this sounds awesome, in practice with this model of guitar, you need to rock pretty hard to get it to register, and the motion control of that is often the first thing to break. Other models of game guitar seem more sensitive and yet more durable at the same time. But that said, it works well, it is meat and potatoes and everything you need in a Rock Band or Guitar Hero guitar, and it is compatible with both games.

learning curve
Doesn"t work for guitarhero. We found out the hard way that you have to selectively match games and controllers as well as matching the console system. We'll try to find someone that needs this specific item and they can see if it works.

Disappointed
I plug it in, the green light flashes a couple of times and then goes out. It won't stay on, it's not working. Also looked in the battery compartment (it doesn't require batteries, by the way) and the batteries that were in there had either melted or exploded. Potentially what's causing it to not work.

Great Controller, a little worn out.
Seems to be in working order, a little worse for wear and definitely used quite a bit. but not broken and seems to work fine
