Borderlands is a far-out first-person shooting and driving game with a penchant for team-based tactics. The game is designed to be played cooperatively with up to four players, though it can be played solo as well. Set on a science fiction frontier planet where anarchy rules, the action-adventure casts the player as a mercenary character of one of four basic types: A well-rounded soldier skilled with weapons and vehicles, a hulking berserker specialized in heavy weapons and up-close melee combat, a stealthy siren with the power to disable enemies and vanish from view, and a sniping-specialist hunter with a pet hawk that helps in battle. The characters have complementing strengths and weaknesses, so in campaign missions as well as in pick-up battles, there are advantages for different character types that work together as a balanced team.<br><br>In the main campaign, players fight through rewarding missions in the wilds of the desolate planet, engaging in high-speed vehicular battles and small-squad combat through sophisticated settings in which solid recon and tactical planning win the day. Characters gain experience and level up, with customizable ability improvements as in a traditional role-playing game. With interchangeable parts, thousands and thousands of different possible weapons are available in Borderlands, and a character's proficiency and accuracy chances rise with repeated use of a certain weapon type. Resources such as ammunition and cash are shared among the squad, but the weapons and armor pieces that drop from fallen enemies may be up for grabs. In some multiplayer modes, characters on the same team can duel one another for the right to claim gear from a slain monster.<br><br>Designed for play on Internet-connected consoles and computers, the game features multiplayer combat with the four basic character archetypes in quick, online pick-up games. The high-def art style portrays eccentrically geared, slightly exaggerated human forms, in a land of rich, gritty textures, with a hint of an outline drawn around people and objects, for the appearance of a graphic novel come to life. Borderlands was developed by Gearbox Software, the studio behind the Brothers in Arms World War II games, acclaimed for their realistic portrayal of squad combat and historical accuracy of weapons and vehicles in fine detail.

    Borderlands, a sea of guns!

    First off, I love guns. The look of a futuristic gun that shoots laser beams, or a shotgun that fire mini rockets puts a smile on my face like no other. With that being said, there is Borderlands to fill my plate with the need to collect an insane amount of loot and satisfy my craving for murder and death. Borderlands is essentially a game based around a merc who goes on a treasure hunt on a remote world that once housed aliens. The graphics are beautiful (despite the dead planet) and the set locations are perfect. It reminds me of an end of the world/apocolypse type of planet. Mechanics of the game are very user friendly, the interface is simple to pickup, the inventory menu is a sinch and the combat is quite smooth. There are some cons to the game though.     Slam Dunk Action Packed Game - Little Depth - Renter

    Borderlands as gone for a obscure and some would say sticky middle road, not a deep emersive role playing game nor a adrenaline filled shooter. Many have praised it for taking this path, many have laughed at what they believe to be a ridiculous concept. Music: First of the games theme music is flattering not only to the art style but also the game play, words like "aint know rest for the wicked" jingle in my head each time I unload a clip to remove yet another poor being from obstructing my chosen path. Art: Now 2k Games made a big deal about this, they advertised alot of footage to show off there new style game.     Borderlands, the best...

    As the first title in an all-new sci-fi action franchise, Borderlands combines the best elements of Gearbox Software's first-person action titles with player customization and vehicular combat. Borderlands features a unique content generation system allowing for near-endless variety in missions, environments, enemies, weapons, item drops and character customization. Borderlands is a cooperative experience, allowing for multiple players to share the same game experience simultaneously online. Players can freely join or leave each other’s games at anytime, or choose to play in the full single-player mode. Borderlands features life-like character animations, impressive real-time physics, and customizable vehicles.

    Awesome Game

    I am enjoying all the graphics and action. Always busy planning my next move and how to overcome obstacles. The one thing I hate is all the narrative you have to go through when you introduce a new character. No button to bypass that

    A game that combines everything we know and love.

    Borderlands has 2 big things going for it from the start. First, it's a new IP, which is an automatic win. How many new IPs are coming out this year? Barely any, and Borderlands brings us something new and fresh. Second is the art style. At first, I didn't think the team could pull it off in such a vast world. Guess who was wrong? Even though they seem stupid, I wouldn't take these graphics any other way. The graphics really flex the muscles of the 360, and it makes sure Borderlands isn't like Fallout 3. Now to the meat of the game. Let's start with the guns. At this moment, Gearbox has 17.5 million+ weapons confirmed for the game, which is probably where they stopped. This is a monumentous amount!!!!! It would take you 20 years earning a gun every minute to come even close to attaining ...
