Peculiar, a breadloaf slice-of-life, mundane charm
Perhaps only for the most dedicated Warhol fans, this tome sees Andy recording the minute details of his seemingly glamourous life, but true to Warhol's style, ephemeral mentions of long-forgotten somebodies and precise reports of the cost of cake, cab fares, and every last tip given to any service person vie for space. The diaries paint a sometimes hilarious and camp portrait of an artist often written off as a glorified simpleton or cruel madman, yet the work also eschews the unquestioned Genius title Warhol enjoys in other circles. This book is best read as a time capsule, a joke book for those of odd humor, and as a roundabout life guide for aspiring commercial-cum-fine artists. This is one of the few documents that gives much insight into how Warhol saw himself, as he said, something of an empty camera.
Good if you like biographies and diaries.
If you enjoy biographies and diary entries. It's really cool to read about someone's life, even it's just the amount of money that the person spent that way. I would recommend this book if you like Andy Warhol or just like reading about people's lives in general. You can really see the way that Andy Warhol thinks about certain people and how he is influenced by many others in his life. The price was really good for the same book I could have gotten at a regular bookstore which was around $30. Even if I didn't fully read this book, it still would have been a worthwhile purchase. If you're not into this kind of stuff, it's best not getting something that you won't be fully sanctified with.

Inside Andy Warhol
This book brings you right into Andy Warhol's daily life activities with a rarely seen before insight on his intricate network of acquaintances and relationships. Aside from very mundane descriptions such as the cost of taxi rides, it contains the Pope of Pop's thoughts on a variety of topics. These archives were mostly gathered from Warhol's telephone messages to his Pat Hackett, his secretary who compiled the diary during a period of more than 16 years. The only disappointing aspect of this book is that it doesn't contain an index. Given the numerous names and topics the diary contains, it means that you have to read the entire book to find information on a specific topic, person or encounter. Paul Marechal.
