|"Super Mario 64" was a launch title for the Nintendo 64 in 1996. It's only fitting that "Super Mario 64 DS" was a launch title for the Nintendo DS in 2004. In "Super Mario 64 DS," a port of the original game, Princess Peach has once again been kidnapped by Bowser. To rescue her, you'll need to traverse her castle and search it room by room. In each castle is an interactive painting that takes you to a new area. The more Power Stars you collect in these areas, the more of the castle you unlock. After achieving 80 Power Stars, you'll unlock the final battle. "Super Mario 64 DS" plays similarly to other Super Mario Bros. titles. You'll run, jump, and stomp on the heads of your enemies. To gain Power Stars, you'll complete objectives in each level. Goals can range from gathering coins to completing quests for NPC characters. While "Super Mario 64 DS" on the Nintendo DS is primarily an action adventure, Nintendo keeps the action fresh. The company does this by regularly introducing new gameplay styles. For example, on one level, you are in a race against multiple opponents. Another stage may challenge your wits instead of your reflexes by having you solve puzzles. This Mario game features a significant number of changes from the Nintendo 64 title. The biggest difference is that you can now play as four characters. While the original game starts with Mario, this one starts with you playing as Luigi. Over the course of the game, you'll unlock the ability to play as Mario, Wario, and Yoshi. Mario appears with his blue overalls, red shirt, and red hat. The other characters are featured in their classic forms as well. Each of these characters has unique abilities to use that are original to this version. Mario can inflate himself like a balloon and float across the level. Luigi becomes invisible and hides from his opponents. Wario can become metal, allowing him to sink to the bottom of the ocean. Yoshi can breathe fire, letting him ignite both enemies and torches. You'll need to master each of these abilities if you want to get every star in this Mario game. "Super Mario 64 DS" adds 30 extra Power Stars to the experience. Each one is hidden somewhere in Peach's home and requires you to use each new ability. The title also takes advantages of the fact that the DS has two screens. The actions of Mario, Wario, Yoshi, and Luigi are always displayed on the top screen while the bottom screen holds an interactive map. If you're looking for a fun way to enjoy this classic, you can use the touchscreen to control your character instead of regular buttons. Once you save Peach from Bowser, the fun is just beginning. Not only does this Super Mario version feature 36 minigames but it also has a multiplayer mode. In multiplayer, up to four friends can fight against each other in various arenas. This DS game can feel like a sequel to the original title instead of a port. Super Mario fans of all ages can find this an excellent addition to their collection.|

Super Mario DS
When I was a kid, I had my NES and I was satisfied. I didn't even know what an N64 was until I found it wrapped under the tree one year for Christmas. I've been in love with Mario and his pals ever since. This game brings back fuzzy feelings of turning on the console and seeing 3D Mario for the first time. There is even a throwback to the grab-face features on the original game. The best part about the game is the ability to rediscover the worlds as Luigi, Wario, or Yoshi. Their unique abilities bring a whole new element to this classic game, and some new Stars can only be achieved with their talents. This game would have been fabulous as a re-release or sequel on the Gamecube as originally intended. However, trying to feature a game known for its incredible use of the revolutionary analog stick and forcing onto a handheld device with a directional pad as its main source of movement, and you are bound to encounter problems. Nintendo tried to solve this problem by allowing you to run by means of the touch pad, but it can be clumsy and difficult to see where you are going or control your speed. There is a lot more to love in this game than there is to hate, but something as crucial as character control can make a huge impact on your gaming experience. If you're looking for a nostalgic throwback, I certainly recommend this game. However, if you aren't already familiar with the controls, maps, and objectives, I'd suggest playing your way through the original on an original N64, or on the Wii Virtual Console. PS: Don't forget to check out the Mini Games!
Super Mario 64 DS
Super Mario 64 DS Type of Game: Platformer System: Nintendo DS Game Developer: Nintendo Super Mario 64 DS is a remake from the N64 Super Mario 64 with some new changes. One of the new things is you can control Mario with the touch screen or the control pad. Second is that you can play as Mario, Luigi, Wario, as you rescue Princess Peach. Third is you can open up great mini games by catching rabbits, some of the mini games are more fun than the main game that gives you more hours of enjoyment. The main game is the same as the N64 version the graphics look better and the control is better then the N64 version. This is a great game to have for the DS; some of the mini games really show off the power of the DS. I recommend this game for your library; this gives you your Mario fix till the new Mario Bros game comes out later this year. My review score for Super Mario 64 DS = 8.0 (Score is 1 is throw it out and 10 is a must buy!) Reviewed by: Eric Schneider

Loved these games, happy with the purchase..
With some known games, there are lots of good small games that I would never buy because of how expensive every Nintendo game is, plus it is very handy to have only one chip instead of several with less games.. Sound and video quality is almost same as original Nintendo games, reaction time with keys is also as aspected..

Used DS Games
A word of caution when buying a used DS or maybe even another machine game. When you anticipate buying a used game cartridge, make sure that you check before you buy that you can reset the cartridge back to a new status. If not, your child will find that the game has already gone through most of the stages eliminating the high score and progress that your child wants to accomplish for themselves and not what someone else has done. Luckily, I was able to find the instructions for this one on how to reset it to "new" condition on the internet, as it was not in the manual. Just a word to the wise. It was almost a painful lesson.
