NASCAR 3D: THE IMAX EXPERIENCE takes viewers behind the scenes at racetracks all around the country, placing the audience in the stands, on pit row, and even in the back seat of a car, showing the speed and glory, fear and fun that takes place at 38 races each year sponsored by the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. Directed by Simon Wincer, who previously made such popular movies as FREE WILLY and LONESOME DOVE, the film includes interviews with such driving stars as Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin, and others. Wincer places a special IMAX camera in Jimmie Johnson's car to give movie-goers the feel of actually being in a race. The film also looks back at the history of race car driving, from bootleggers through the Petty family and more. Wincer used some 72 miles of film in the shooting, which also takes a close look at safety concerns and crashes as well as the care that goes into the building of each car. Drivers explain such terms as drafting, and Wincer follows race day as dedicated fans create a huge, unique, and family friendly community and the drivers get psyched up. From Daytona to Talladega, Martinsville to Chattanooga, NASCAR 3D takes viewers on a wild ride that puts them front and center in the fast-paced world of stock-car racing, America's most popular spectator sport.

    Imax Experience was great!!!!!

    I remembered this DVD from when it was new and was all the rage. We did not get to go to see it in IMAX but seeing it today I still feel that we have had a great experience watching this. It goes into Nascar and shows so many aspects of the sport, the drivers, the pit crews, and people who go to the races. I especially like the recollection of the death of Dale Earnhart-We saw this as it happened and it still doesn't seem real to me. The whole movie was just great and I would tell any Nascar fan to buy it for the memories and the racing experience up close and personal. A great-great DVD

    Great Ride!

    Probably the best documentary film made of Nascar Stock Car Racing, very informative for both fans and non fans of the sport, should be in every Nascar fans library!

    NASCAR: The Imax Experience (2005, DVD)

    I purchased this as a gift for a nascar fan that has just about everything except his own Nascar race car. This dvd is excellent. It shows the history of nascar from the early days of racing on the beach to the tracks of today. It puts you in the car for true action from the high speeds to the crashes without actually hurting you or your hearing. This is a must for any race fan whether an "all or nothing nascar fan" or someone just getting interested.. Its sure to keep them entertained during football season while they await the flag to drop again.

    Nascar: Imax experience dvd

    Even though this was released a few years ago, it is still a pertinent, and informative dvd for any Nascar fan to own. From early inception to close up and personal thoughts of todays drivers. Loaded with lots of tidbits of information I bet even the seasoned Nascar fan doesn't know. Shop around and get a good price, and you'll be glad you bought this one. Watched it three times so far and it just gets better. It will help take the edge off during the off season.

    Drivers........Start Your Engines!!!!!!!

    Great movie for the family. My 3-year old son loves it, and asks to watch it at least twice a week. Very informative of behind the scenes things that the NASCAR teams have to do to get ready for each race. The cool camera angles put you right up to and right inside of the cars on Sunday. Excellent movie to hook your DVD player up to the stereo and CRANK IT UP! The only complaint I have for this movie is that it's not very long, I believe it's only like 45 minutes long. But they cram a lot of stuff into that 45 minutes.
